Parental Advocacy for Students with Special Needs: A Systematic Review Study

This systematic survey study explores parental advocacy for students with special needs. Challenges, barriers and strategies are examined to understand how parents advocate. The SCOPUS Web of Science (WoS) databases used find advocacy-related articles over the past 10 years from 2010 2021. A total 80 60 studies 20 WoS were identified through PRISMA flow chart process. Findings revealed inadequate information, negative perceptions, language cultural differences, insufficient knowledge, presence stereotypes discrimination as well differences in socioeconomic levels advocacy. Some adopted advocate children communication schools, sharing knowledge purposes provision professional services support schools. Collaboration between school is be main medium that ensures educational needs rights met. more conducive meaningful learning environment these requires involvement multiple parties.
